Protecting Our Children

Our Child Safety Policy

First Baptist Church in Eminence is committed to maintaining a safe and healthy environment where children can learn about and experience God’s love. It is our goal to provide appropriate supervision for all church-sponsored activities involving children and to minimize risk in all church spaces where children may be present.

We believe that protecting children is an important responsibility of the church, and we take steps to ensure that those who serve in children’s ministries are properly screened and approved.

Screening and Background Checks

First Baptist Church partners with Choice Screening, an exclusive partner of the Missouri Baptist Convention, to conduct background screenings for individuals serving with children or vulnerable populations.

Background screening helps the church make informed decisions and provides an additional layer of protection for the children entrusted to our care.

The Enhanced National Criminal Search includes:

National Sex Offender Registry

Most Wanted Lists (FBI, DEA, ATF, Interpol)

OFAC Terrorist Database Search

OIG, GSA, SAM, and FDA checks

All felonies and misdemeanors reported nationally

Social Security Number trace

Associated names and address history

Alias searches through national databases

All potential matches are verified at the county level to ensure accuracy.

Choice Screening AutoComplete searches unlimited county and/or statewide criminal records, including both felony and misdemeanor records. This search includes all jurisdictions where the applicant has resided within the past seven years based on Social Security number trace information.

Screening Application Process

All church employees and volunteers who work with children or vulnerable populations at First Baptist Church must complete the screening process and receive approval before beginning their duties and responsibilities.

This process helps ensure that individuals serving in children’s ministries meet the church’s standards for safety and care.
